Internship With Environmental Science and Policy Program

The Master of Public Administration (MPA) in Environmental Science and Policy program at the School of International and Public Affairs is seeking an intern for the Spring 2022 semester.

Job Title: MPA Environmental Science and Policy Program Intern

Job Description: The assistant director for the MPA in Environmental Science and Policy seeks an intern to support the graduate program. Among other assignments, the intern will provide classroom support for ESP faculty. The intern will also draft content for the program’s website and recruitment materials, prepare for summer orientation and information sessions, and help facilitate logistics for the program’s workshop course. The intern will also assist in staffing and coordinating events and meetings. Finally, the intern will support program faculty and program staff as needed.

Requirements: Applicants must be full-time students at Columbia University and be able to work from campus. Preference will be given to students with a background or interest in environmental and sustainability issues.

Skills Required:  The position requires excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. The candidate must be able to work well under pressure, coordinate diverse responsibilities and exercise independent judgment. The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Zoom. Previous administrative experience is preferred. Applicants should be highly motivated, and detail oriented. A strong interest in the environment and sustainable development is preferred, but not required. This is a social position with regular interaction with the ESP class, which helps to expand your Columbia network.

Compensation & Hours: $18/hour; The candidates should be able to work 35 hours per week, beginning as soon as possible with the possibility to continue during the fall semester.
