Canadian Sponge Fossil

Paul Racicot of the Le blog de Paul sent me an image of a stromatoporoid fossil from the Ordovician Period.  It was found in the Beekmantown Group near Valleyfield, Quebec, Canada.

For scale, he said in his message, "My colored rule makes 10 cm between the two withe scotched paper bands."

Merci Paul for the image, that is quite a large sponge fossil.  Maybe in next month I will be able post some images of sponges from the Ordovician Period found around Louisville, Kentucky.
