GeoCommons site relaunch

GeoCommons, a great source for global GIS data, has relaunched its website. The new site boasts a wealth of new features including: a single search box for data and maps, pre-made maps, export to shapefile, KML for Google Earth, and CSV and other data file formats. The new site also offers the ability to create custom maps within the site itself using hosted data. From the GeoCommons site: "GeoCommons is a free and public version of the GeoIQ platform where anyone can contribute and share open data, easily build shareable maps and collaborate with others."

Users can read more about how GeoCommons works, read the user manual, and get developer information including APIs from the site.

h/t to the Free Geography Tools blog for the information.
