That should be 'rabid'  but I don't want to panic people.  The raccoon was out all weekend, and now it approach my dog Doggy McDogface, who can really put on a vicious show that scares coyotes.  I called the dog and the darn thing came after us.  I informed the City.  I had thought the coyotes would have taken care of it, but perhaps they are smart as well.

I love the smell of a burst watermain in the morning. Note the lovely steam rising from the river. This was the start of my morning dog walk.  In the valley I saw the remains of a wolf pack kill.  I had said they would come and wipe out the coyotes. So overnight, a pack of at least 6 wolves got the mangy sick coyote.  I am putting this together from my woodland skills, so the City

The hills are alive with the sound of coyotes, and the screech of our Peregrine falcons.  What's a mouse to do?  Why, invade my house and find new penetrations that I thought I sealed all up. I have now sealed up some more remote electrical cable

Hoffman, writing at Resilient Earth, notes that a new larger, more aggressive variety of coyote is moving into the northeastern United States. These coyotes are taking over the habits

When I think of the La Brea asphalt seeps, coyotes don’t immediately jump to mind. Sabercats and dire wolves are the sorts of carnivore I have come to associate the oozing predator trap with. Yet coyotes were there in abundance. According to a monograph on the site I picked up from the Page Musuem gift

The neighborhood Bob Cat and a Video

Tucson suburbs often have abundant wildlife including javelinas and coyotes, the occasional black bear and mountain lion.  A bob cat (Felis rufus or Lynx rufus) frequently visits my yard in search of a meal, usually doves and quail.  I have encountered it in the early morning when I go out for the paper.  It usually

Not a particularly geologic entry tonight, but I have never had the chance to photograph a coyote from a reasonably close distance. The morning patrol at Stovepipe Wells Campground was in full swing today, and Wily E. Coyote was cooperating with yours truly. It could have been the breakfast burrito I was chomping on, but I wasn't sharing. If you visit a place like Death Valley, and feel a need
