It shows pure thrust, which I know is directed upward. I'm surprised my Wikipedia article is still alive, although much improved.  A long time ago (at work), I did a huge amount of this. Nepal was like this.  Within the valley no structure can survive since the pgv hits 2 m/s.  This is the ideal place for my idea of container houses.  For the other valleys, nothing will hit this

Rifting in Africa - Seismological views from AfarProfessor Mike Kendall, University of BristolThe Western Regional Group is pleased to invite you to an evening presentation on rifting in Africa. The rifting of continents and eventual formation of ocean basins is a fundamental component of plate tectonics, yet the mechanism for break-up is poorly understood. Rifting of the continents leading to plate rupture occurs by a combination of mechanical deformation and magma intrusion, but the [...]

London't mega-project known as Crossrail that involves the construction of 118 km (73 mi) of new rail line with 42 km (26 mi) of new tunnels. The geotechnical investigation for Crossrail included rock coring, and some 561 pallets of core are going to be stored inside the mined out portion of a salt mine in Cheshire. The temperature and humidity levels remain consistent year-round making it an ideal place to store the core. According to the NCE article, this material is less than half of the [...]

Windsor Hum Nailed

Article Windsor-Detroit, being one of the heaviest industrial areas around, has found out that heavy industry is responsible for the hum.  I was actually on the local radio for this issue!  I thought it might be the ships, but now it's some factory.  Wonder what they are doing?  Looks like an ideal place to put in windmills, nobody would notice
