Conditions exactly the same as the Toronto monster storm

As far as I can tell, we have the exact same conditions, when the weather people failed so dramatically, that it even sparked a complaint.  We have extreme cold at -11C, coming down on us with a hook up from Lake Ontario.  This turns us into Buffalo, with the lake effect. So, if this washes out, then have pity on the weather people who think lows and highs actually do

Brine Specific Heat Capacity

Brine specific heat capacity shows up in geothermal power calculations. I generated the main plot some time ago, but just added the two points. Fervo Energy Blue Mountain pilot project (salinity S=5000 ppm) is a recurring case history throughout my notes. Smackover lithium brine (S=340,000 ppm) has geothermal electrical co-generation potential and is the MS thesis subject of my student Juan Falquez. The SMK point is specifically tuned to the Lewisville area of Lafayette County, where a large [...]

That was short.  The Arctic heat machine has started up again.  This spill just started on a half-empty tank.  The Pacific air is pushing in for a full clipper.  [...]

Geology in the West Country [15:14:00]  recommend  recommend this post  (60 visits) info
 T. rex - When did they Stop Growing? THIS ARTICLE in New Scientist, (based on this ACADEMIC PAPER) suggests that they grew until at least forty! The methodology used is akin to counting tree rings, [...]

A new paper describing the feeding apparatus of Silurian cornulitids from China: More evidence supporting placement of this group in the lophophorates

Wooster Geologists [06:13:37]  recommend  recommend this post  (66 visits) info
It was my privilege to join an Estonian-Polish-Chinese-American team interpreting partial soft-tissue preservation of the feeding devices of Silurian cornulitids, which are extinct Paleozoic organisms that [...]
